Got my haircut yesterday by one of
the Fabio lookalike hairdressers at this place on Pershing near Washington
Boulevard. I walk by this small salon at least once a day, and its hard
to miss the owners - tan, shoulder length blond brown hair, guys wearing
all black out front smoking. Yesterday I was dying for a haircut and
I figured what the hell - they know how to handle their own long hair
and if they did something funky I'd know where to find them to exact
my revenge.
I needn't have feared. The place is
nice and the guys were sweet - twin brothers from Albania who've been
in the states for about 6 years. And the haircut is fine - he cut off
about 2 1/2 inches which sounds like a lot but my hair is pretty long
to start with and it had been about 6 months since my last haircut so
there was plenty of dead wood to discard. And its just so damn soft
now its driving me mad - thank goodness I have an office so no one can
see me incessantly running my fingers through it.
He was asking me if I was interested
in getting it highlighted - either reddish brown or streaks of BRIGHT
RED the likes of which I haven't seen since I left Berkeley. The BRIGHT
RED may be cool though a bit much for my current job. Then again its
thoughts like that that make me want to get my nose re-pierced, dye
my hair and wear pants that show off my tattoo. At 31 I have to remind
myself there's no need to convince anyone I'm still a badass.
