Listening: "Strange Loop" by Liz Phair, of course.

Reading (perhaps quality): Almost done with Empire Falls (its very good - almost my favorite Russo novel)

Eight days in and romance has been a mixed bag for me so far this year. At my party Troy was calling me chicken for being so hesitant and cautious, while out in California my stepmother said much the same (though in more mothery and less gentle tones). But the new year has brought with it thoughts of old patterns and even older beaux.

On a recent date the guy asked me if I had any bad date stories. Thought about it and couldn't come up with any, really. Not that every date has gone off hitchless, or that all of the guys were 100% normal. But they were all nice guys and it seems unfair to make fun of them.

Am still in the process of writing my new year's resolutions - am on 77 of 103. It's like a combination of big dream-ish things (#28 - write a novel) and to do list (#71 - get new glasses). Have been careful about any of them that could be related to romance, on making them things that I can control. i.e.: won't necessarily fall in love, but can resolve to ask a guy on a date. But like the rest of my life, the vast vast majority of it relates to career (#54 - learn Flash), art (#66 - finish that sweater), or generalities (#8 - learn how to drive a stick shift).

It's late and I'm too tired even for talk as frothy as this. Hasta manana.

a m. just a m

Doing (life and related tasks): Just came back from a meeting over at the Sewall Belmont House. Fun, and the event is really really coming together.

Doing (crafty stuff): Nothing, now.

Wanting: Some chocolate.

Anticipating: Nothing much.

Aside: My youngest sister, Bug, calls all the guys I date "beau". Is it because for her it's easier than learning their names? Whatever reason it cracks me up and adds some constancy to the serial dating single life.

last one everything else what I'm working on on to the dailies all (well some) about me back to the index page next one
