Listening: The Simpsons are on.
Reading (perhaps quality): Still still
reading Mere Christianity by CS Lewis.
Reading (definitely pulp): Just finished
a trashy romance (needed a break from popular theology).
Drinking: Diet coke.

The first bachelorette party in the
series has come and gone. There was the bridal shower for Tess
a couple of weeks ago, but last night's Bachelorette Soiree for Demmert
was the first official, bridal, gathering where carousing not propriety
was the goal.
We all met up at Old Europe way the
heck up in Georgetown over by the Social Safeway. Fabian was an angel
and drove Foster, Leigh
and I there, saving us either a long walk or uncertain bus ride. When
we got there D and MJ
were there. The gang of us settled in to figure out what to eat from
the traditional German menu.
(above) Foster and MJ, trying to decide what to eat
(above) and apparently finding it very stressful
Luckily choosing a beer was much easier...
There were a few yummy varieties to choose from and they came in large
sizes.

With the food ordered and the drinking
well begun it came time for presents. Though Demmert's
very cool mom was at both the bridal shower (earlier in the day)
and the bachelorette a couple of people saved the more salacious gifts
for the evening.
(the 3 photos, above) Demmert looks at, tries to
explain, then debates hiding her first gift.
After that, the food arrived and we
settled in to the more serious businesses of the evening - eating, drinking,
and catching up.

(above) then later in the evening, finishing it up.
It wasn't all debauchery - in true
girl fashion we did actually talk to each other.

sister-in-law

By the time I left the festivities
(about 1) we'd moved onto a bar downtown and people were still sharing
stories and drinking good beer. No sorority songs were sung (Demmert,
Foster, MJ and I are all sisters) but I suppose we're saving that for
the actual wedding. Was a good time - and a great start to this spring's
stream-of-brides!

Doing (life and related tasks): Had a busy
weekend, but can't believe that its already Sunday night.
Doing (crafty stuff): Trying to figure
out what want to do next.
Wanting: A clearer idea of what the weather
is going to be like so I can know what to wear tomorrow.
Anticipating: a busy week - tons to do
at work, some dinner plans, etc.
