I love my friends. Foster
brought by the most fabulous mix CD today. Damn, I think the thing has
every inside joke song we've had over the last few years - "Bette
Davis Eyes", "Brick House", "Maneater", "Super
Freak", and more. She didn't have a playlist for it and so every
new song is a surprise - a really good one.
Had a good weekend - after last week's
craziness (many many projects) got some much needed rest. On Friday
met up with SS the SS, her sister, a bunch
of her friends, and TB to go to the galleries
for First Friday. Carrie had said that it was a good time and she was
right - free cheap wine, interesting art, and eccentric characters all
around. One of the galleries had pictures from late 19th/ early 20th
century Greece - was cool to see how places looked 100 years before
I saw them. The same gallery had some great paper mache' and we talked
with artist for a while, SS the SS's sister
talked theater with one of the other gallery goers - it's cool how seeing
people in different places shows you new sides of them. Afterwards we
went to dinner - drank much Chianti, ate tons of garlicky Italian food.
Saturday was a thoroughly agreeable full day with TB - shopping
at Potomac Mills (got a dress that will work for Demmert and Darren's
wedding next weekend), night swimming, and movie watching. Then today
had brunch with Bibi followed with movie watching
(of course - saw Insomnia and Secretary. Liked Insomnia
more than I'd thought I would and Secretary less.) Did some laundry,
some cleaning, and baked cookies. A quiet sleepy day.
Not so the rest of this week. Am off
to CHI tomorrow - looking very forward to a few days of education during
the day and hopefully getting to do some networking and see some friends
in the evening. Have the student poster presentation from my Masters
Project which should be fun (though I've completely been the slacker
partner in that effort). Am a bit nervous about being in such a researchy
environment but know it'll be good for me. And certainly the good weather
will be!

Doing (life and related tasks): Should
be packing for Florida (am about half done).
Doing (crafty stuff): Did some embroidery
(found my black floss).
Wanting: Someone to take me grocery shopping
(once I get back that is).
Anticipating: CHI - the sessions look great
and am looking forward to seeing everyone!
