Listening: Little Red Book by Cordalene.

Reading (perhaps quality): Servant Leadership: A Journey into the Nature of Legitimate Power and Greatness by Robert K. Greenleaf. Was in the office at work and it was a slow day so I started it.

Reading (definitely pulp): Nothing.

Drinking: Diet Mountain Dew. Looks freaky but tastes yummy.

Wow. I'm really really tired. The last couple of nights have been unintentionally late.

Thursday night was meeting up for catch-up and drinks with Mark. Got there by around 7:30 and the two of us settled into a pitcher of beer. I was thinking I'd be home by 10 at the latest. Well, conversation got deep and all of a sudden it was midnight and between the two of us we'd polished off three pitchers. Damn, I haven't drunk that much on a school night since I was in school. Snagged a cab home, drank a liter and a half of water, chased it with a few ibuprofin and went to sleep. Blessedly woke up fine.

Last night was even longer. Miranda was having a dinner party up in Silver Spring which was a great time - amazing food (really) and good company (got to see SS the SS's sister and sister's boyfriend, two of my favorite people in the area). Talk ranged from politics to exes to the Peterson verdict to the current and future situation in Iraq. In between conversational bursts I asked what time it was and it was 12:30 - knowing the long metro ride ahead decided it was time to get going home.

Arriving in Arlington was a madhouse. The rest of the metro system was quiet, subdued but Clarendon was crazy. People running through the station, yelling, girls giggling. When I got to street level and looked at the time I remembered that it was last call - groups were still streaming out of bars, couples taking breaks to smooch on the street. Its been a while since I've been at a bar that late and stone cold sober but the scene was funny. Got stopped half a block from the metro by some guy who asked if I wanted to party (remember, its after 2 now, I'm exhausted, and still have my bag from work slung across my shoulders) - he tried to assure me that he was a good guy but I still said no thanks. Half a block later two guys asked where I was going and could they come too. Another quarter block and a guy said I had nice breasts as he walked by (I mean I do but I was wearing a courderoy coat so I have no idea where he picked that up from). Absolutely wild - guess you don't actually have to be at the bar to still experience the 2:30 paw.

summertime and the living is easy

Off for some brunch and fall-foilage photo taking with the fab new digital camera. And no drinking. Between doing much on Thursday and seeing too much last night I think I've had enough.

a m. just a m

Doing (life and related tasks): Really busy with the not really new job. Trying to catch up with a bunch of people. Falling a little behind but still trekking along with the running.

Doing (crafty stuff): Making Christmas presents galore.

Wanting: Nothing much. Maybe an extra day off? Thursday really was nice.

Anticipating: A looooong week next week at work.
