Guess who's got a bruised chin? Well,
I don't know if anyone else does but I do. And if you're guessing it
was some New Years debauchery you'd be all wrong - the truth is more
ridiculous than that.
Imagine you're in my apartment and
it's about 7:45 this morning. My hair is still wet but up in a twist
so it doesn't get my jacket wet,
I'm dressed in a suit so I can look professional for this new detail
I'm on. I'm heading out the door - the cat's fed but meowing sadly,
I've got a purse over my arm and a heavy trash bag in each hand (with
the upcoming party and my move I'm getting rid of things slowly). I'm
walking down the three flights of stairs and on the second floor a couple
of steps from the landing my heel catches. I drop the bags and launch
forward with my left foot on the bottom stair and my right foot touching
the far wall. While the semi-split action was a good stretch for my
legs it led to a big rip up the back of my skirt. I considered going
in with my skirt sliced up to about an inch under my backside then remembered
they hired me as a bright young thing, not as a fiiiiine
young thing.
And the chin? Well, while the wall
stopped by foot my chin continued on, I smacked it on the bottom a little
to the right side. Luckily didn't bite my tongue or anything but its
still sore and I'm watching closely for anything big and black and blue.
Anyways, am meeting up with a friend
for drinks after work, figure then I'll go home and do some mending.
That, and sticking with flats for the rest of the week.
