Listening: Emily Kane by Art Brut
just finished, Keep It Up by Fanny Pack is on right now.
Reading (perhaps quality): Guernica:
The Biography of a Twentieth-Century Icon by Gijs van Hensbergen
Reading (definitely pulp): Am looking at
the pages of old Vogue and New Yorker magazines as I use
them for packing material.
Drinking: Lukewarm Earl Grey tea. I need
to go warm this stuff up.

(above) The mass of cardboard and other stuff in
my living room.
Another day of packing ahead of me.
This week I've packed rather than gone out, packed half drunk after
going out, packed at almost midnight after a date. Had dreams about
packing last night, its about all I think about. My living room is a
maze of boxes and it all feels really oppressive with the crowding.
The bookcase and the sideboard are empty, need to do the coffee table
and some odds and ends and the living room is done. Then I only have
the dining room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and hall closet to do.
Oh and add in some laundry because right now my clothes options are
laughably limited.
Damn it, just kill me now.
I've developed two nasty looking cuts
from the industrial tape dispenser that Tom/Betsy lent me. Teaches me
to go and get enthusiastic with the packing tape.
(above) The wounded finger. I guess it hurts worse
than it looks.
But seriously, Tom/Betsy
and Becky have been absolute lifesavers through all of this. They've
brought me a million billion (really) boxes, without them I would have
had to have been a lot more persistent with the guy at the ABC store.
Really, without them I don't know what the hell I would have done. Cried?
The other interesting part of this
whole moving thing is getting rid of the food in the kitchen so I don't
have to move it. This morning I had pancakes which is pretty normal.
Lunch will be black bean soup which is also fine. But looking at what
I actually have in my cabinets I'm a little scared for later in the
week.
(later today) Things look no better
here but since more things are in boxes I've assured myself that progress
has been made. It's Hat Day tonight so I've best get showered and presentable
before heading out with D, Fergus,
Demmert, Darren,
the Fitzpatrick Sisters, and everyone else
once we're there at Millie and Al's. Its reassuring to think all of
this will be waiting when I get back, its terrifying that this will
all be waiting when I get back.

Doing (life and related tasks): Very much
packing and working. Occasionally dating and catching up with people
who's coolness I'd momentarily forgotten.
Doing (crafty stuff): Well, packing is
both an art and a science!
Wanting: To have all this stuff done.
Anticipating: Moving next weekend. Hurrah!
