Listening: You You You You You by
the 6ths.
Reading (perhaps quality): Ulysses
by James Joyce. Very slowly, but reading it.
Reading (definitely pulp): Loving re-reading
Valley of the Dolls.
Drinking: Nothing right now.

I had some really amazing hard working
intentions for when I got home from work tonight. I was thinking I would
do some laundry, vacuum, maybe do a quick workout, and then clean out
my kitchen cupboards. Instead I've lounged, lazed, read, had dinner,
and lounged some more. I guess there's still time to pick up one or
two of those things (the workout seems a good one) but after talking
to a bunch of new- and seasoned-moms am enjoying not doing much, not
having to do much.
The Three Kings Day Party this year
was yet another success. SS the SS helped
with the cooking again and save a few people just about everyone I really-like
(new friends) or definitely-love (old ones) in DC was here. I contributed
mulled wine, several kinds of cookies, a red velvet cake (I really can't
bake a King Cake, that's my compromise), sparkling cider, lemonade,
and almost embarrassingly cheap beer. My lovely guests brought homemade
truffles, pigs in a blanket, dip, crudités, extra wine, and I
don't even know what else - the joint was so crowded with awesome interesting
cool people I could barely see right in front of me.
And the bestest part? Jen
and Steve brought their adorable adorable
baby girls Anna and Charlotte.
The girls are so cute its almost wrong. It felt good to have kids here
at the party - after being here in DC so long it sometimes feels like
nothing changes but seeing them it was a welcome reminder that they
do.
Also in the good-news category: am
back on my training schedule again. Danielle,
Coreen and I are doing a Half Marathon in
Alexandria in May (instead of one in New Orleans in February) - more
time to get up to speed but really after two weeks off for Christmas
and New Years its more time to get back on the wagon. I find myself
wanting to run the way I could a few weeks ago but not quite being up
to it. Grrrrrrr.
But I'm better than on track for training and should be good by race
time. And we've been promised a very active cheering section with fun-suitable-for-exhausted-runners
when we're done. All good!

Doing (life and related tasks): Work. Getting
back into running. Recovering from hosting my Three Kings Day party
on Sunday.
Doing (crafty stuff): Need to get on that.
Really!
Wanting: Someone to take all the extra
cookies out of my house!
Anticipating: Mmmmmm- some time with my
Netflix tonight!
