So, since I've moved into the new place
I've had a blank wall.
(above) That blank wall, right by the front door. Oh, and the Christmas
Tree that really must come down already.
I mean I still have the couch I've
had for several years, but there was space and I've been wanting some
additional seating. Not that friends couldn't continue sitting on the
floor when they come over, but really an additional place to sit is
a lot more civilized.
Meant to get something before Three
Kings Day (also meant to put up a description of the party and some
photos - must loop back and do it) but didn't and ended up lining up
dining room chairs there. Looked at a variety of couches, dithered and
dithered some more, then finally took the plunge and ordered a couch
I saw online. One I had to put together.
Let me repeat that. One I had to put
together. I may be crafty as all get out but I don't have much practice
at furniture building. Or at least good furniture building. But heady
on I-can-do-it-ness (and after already asking Francois
to help) I was sure I'd be okay, the couch would be okay, all would
be right in the world.
When the boxes finally came in today
I was a little less sure.
(Above) The box's gaping tear. Eeeeeeeeek.
The boxes were massive
and banged up. Opening them up and extracting all of the pieces, I started
to feel less certain. But I threw my hair up in a ponytail, put on some
music and got to work.
The result? Voila!
(above) The new green couch
Gorgeous. Stable. Comfortable.
What's not to love? And it even plays well with the older couch.
(Above) The two couches, snuggled together
So I'm really happy with the new couch.
Am pondering what artwork to put up with it and what the heck to do
with the extra end table but that'll work itself out. Definitely a more
fun set of problems and possibilities than most.

Doing (life and related tasks): Just taking
a nice break.
Doing (crafty stuff): I think putting together
that couch counts as a craft project.
Wanting: A real solid night's sleep - have
been feeling pretty tired lately.
Anticipating: A fun girls' night this weekend.
