Last weekend when we had the 4 - 6
inch snowstorm Hug hinted around staying with
me for the storm but ended up not doing it (she lives at an above-ground
metro and didn't want to be trapped at home). This time when weathermen
were talking 12 - 24 inches she flat out asked if she could and I told
her no prob. She only wanted to stay until Saturday afternoon which
made it completely doable.
It was a lot of fun. With the two
of us it was the sweet sister time that makes my friends gag when I
talk about it. We gossiped about reality shows, had junk food, talked
old family stories, and watched tons of tv (The Hurt Locker on
demand, plus whatever we could find one). She even suffered through
a good portion of the first season of Lost. I really enjoy catching
up with what's going on in her life and hearing her perspective on things.
It also helps that we find a lot of the same things hil-ar-i-ous.
(Above) The Tango! fabric softener that I found at a local bodega.
Hug and I were dying, that only fellow latins would use sex in this
particular way, to sell laundry additives.
In between all the other things we
did (face masks! family phone calls! true confessions!) we would head
over to the window and exclaim over the snow.
(Above) The view out the window, Saturday mid-morning
The snow! The snow! The snow!
(Above) Birds at the feeder across the street. The blurriness
of the photo is because of the screen of snow blowing and falling all
around.
