I'm so in the housing market due to
a story that involves an ice cube
and a bug that one day will be funny but now just really makes me want
to move.
So I've lived in the same apartment
for almost three years. That's a record for me - since college I'd moved
pretty much every year, always looking for a new roommate, new perspective
on things. Mostly I loved really loved that moment when the movers had
left and the boxes were all sitting there in the apartment and everything
was clean and bright and you could put things in order and it was all
new and fresh. Bliss for a permanent-decision-phobe like me.
But I moved into this place about a
month after I came back to DC and there really hasn't been a big reason
to move. Its big and bright and sunny with some nice wood floors. Comfortable,
workable. And cheap. Wicked cheap. Crazy cheap. Like $500 a month less
than a lot of other things in the area. So even though its not everything
I wanted I've stayed.
There are problems with it. One of
which are the bugs. I keep a clean kitchen
but bugs are definitely out and about. It's gross and embarrassing and
frustrating. And almost funny.
So I was going to get some ice cubes
yesterday and I look in the tray and see a bug on one of them. This
is gross. Beyond gross. I immediately scrubbed out the freezer and scalded
everything in it. But as I was up to my elbows in soap and hot water
I had to laugh -- If it's a little bug, if that's finally the
thing that lights a fire under my ass to move out and on from this apartment
and the relative same-old I've had since coming back - well who would've
known that something so small could do something so big.

Doing (life and related tasks): Busy at
work. Going out with folks a fair amount. Really happy.
Doing (crafty stuff): Trying to find products
with which to get rid of my yarn and material stashes.
Wanting: Some sleep. Have been some kind
of insomniac lately.
Anticipating: Some interesting times this
weekend.
