Listening: The hum of the air conditioner, combined with a cat trying to get my attention. Reading (perhaps quality): Nothing right now. Reading (definitely pulp): Nada tambien. Drinking: Some water. |
August 16, 2005 Back home from a long weekend out in NM. So there's a half unpacked bag (filled with chile, textiles and some new clothes) on the bed and a meowy cat that's demanding attention. Was wonderful being out there. Pictures are up on Flickr (new window will open when you click on the link) and though its nice to have them they in no way do the place justice. The beauty there is otherworldly with desert and mesa and plains and scrub blending in and out of eachother. But most extraordinary is the space. Miles and miles to the horizon with nothing but land. And then there's seeing my grandfather. My only grandparent left now. He's a calm, quiet at first but once you get him talking watch out kind of man. I wish he, I wish I, didn't live so far away. But I love heading out there. It feels like home like peace like calm. And I'm grateful its somewhere I can go. |
Doing (life and related tasks): Should be unpacking. Doing (crafty stuff): More embroidery - some Indian designs now. Wanting: New Mexico to magically move a lot closer to DC. Anticipating: Some good chile as soon as I cook it up! |
