Listening: An old movie on TCM.
Reading (perhaps quality): Trying yet again
to read The Diary of Anais Nin, Vol. 1: 1931-1934. This time
I will prevail!
Reading (definitely pulp): Nothing right
now.
Drinking: Hot water, straight up.

Last night after meeting up with Mer
came home to a pleasant surprise, arrived via book rate mail...
(above) Its the Subway Shredded Iceberg Lettuce Box of Mystery!
The story?
When I moved back to DC after grad
school I left a bunch of things back at Dad
and Carmen's house in California. It being
oh almost 8 years ago it seemed time to go and bring all of it back
home.
So a couple of days after Christmas
I ventured into the spare bedroom downstairs where my and my brothers
and who knows who else's things are all piled up, waiting for us to
reclaim them. There I found a couple of my large circular trays (brought
them in a huge carry-on), a large rectangular tray (put it in my checked
baggage just barely) and this box that I'd packed and sealed back in
spring of 2002.
Of course I couldn't resist opening
it.
(above) Lo, the treasures within!
What was in it? A plaque of appreciation
from the University Mediators, some old framed photographs of me and
the family and the grad school exbf at Bug's
bat mitzvah, and a whole mess of old diaries and papers. Those in particular
have been wild to read, its like going back in time and seeing again
life at 18 or 23 etc etc etc. Crazy. So I resealed it, and the morning
I left Dad and I drove over to the post office. Sent it over here, and
here it is.
For the writing work I'm doing, personal
archives figure big. So having my own archive-y box, unopened for years
and recently rediscovered is a real boon. Am looking forward to setting
aside some time in the next few days to explore it thoroughly.

Doing (life and related tasks): Still trying
to kick this cold.
Doing (crafty stuff): Writing plus picture
taking plus finishing up some christmas card making.
Wanting: This cough to go away and let
me sleep through the night.
Anticipating: Three Kings, of course!
